Kyra is a TV, film and theatre actress known for her work as Britta in CW’s Riverdale, Jess in Nickelodeon’s The J Team, Carrie in Apple TV’s Schmigadoon! and Lisa-Karen in season 2 of Netflix’s Firefly Lane. Her theatre credits include Alice in Wonderland – The Panto (Metro Theatre), Newsies and 42nd Street (TUTS), 13: The Musical (Bring on Tomorrow Co.) and The Music Man (Gateway Theatre). Kyra thanks her family, friends, King & Kot Creative Studios, da Costa Talent and Echo Lake Entertainment. Katey has been a theatre artist for 35 years! A UBC BFA graduate, she has done her share of film, TV and voice-over, but live theatre is what she loves best. Her favourite credits include She Loves Me, Pride and Prejudice, Mary Poppins (Arts Club Stanley); The Threepenny Opera, The Odd Couple (Arts Club Granville Island); A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, Henry V, King John, The Merry Wives of Windsor (Bard on the Beach); and Company (Raincity Productions). Katey believes that theatre is storytelling, and she hopes you see a wee bit of yourself somewhere in this story

Angus Yam is a Hong Kong-Canadian artist based in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded traditional Indigenous territories. He recently graduated from Studio 58 this spring, and is excited to make his Gateway debut. Some recent acting credits include: East Van Panto: Alice in Wonderland (Theatre Replacement), The Rocky Horror Show (Studio 58), and Romeo and Juliet (Bard on the Beach). Angus believes that theatre is momentary and precious; yet there is always a piece of it for one to take away, which will last a very long time. Angus is very grateful to his dearest Mama, family and friends.

Originally from PEI, Jennifer is pleased to now call Vancouver home. A graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts, some of her favourite past performances include: Little Women (Fighting Chance Productions), Songs for a New World (IR Festival), and a one-year contract for Anne of Green Gables – The Musical at Canadian World Theme Park, Japan. Jennifer is the proud owner/operator of The Corporate Canuck and The Smart Artist, working with creative professionals across Canada to help them navigate their money & taxes. Jennifer is grateful to be visiting Avonlea once again, and eager to share this beautiful show with the West Coast!

Marija is an actor based in Vancouver, BC, and she is thrilled to be making her Gateway Theatre debut as Josie Pye! Marija is a 2020 Graduate of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Program. Past credits include We Will Rock You (TUTS), A Chorus Line and 9 to 5 (CapU Theatre), American Idiot (URP), and Betty Blue Eyes (Arbutus Studio). Marija believes that artists are given the gift of being able to connect with others through storytelling, so she hopes to continue to create truthful and heartwarming art like this. Shaughnessy is an actress, singer, and dancer originally from Armstrong, BC, and this production with Gateway Theatre marks her professional debut. In spring of 2022 Shaughnessy received her BFA in Acting with Distinction from the University of Alberta. Recent theatre credits include Rochdale (Studio Theatre), She Kills Monsters (Studio Theatre), and Love’s Labour’s Lost (Studio Theatre). Shaughnessy is thrilled to now be a part of the vibrant theatre community of the Lower Mainland who continue to demonstrate how essential art is in our lives. Sean is a keyboard musician with over 35 years of performing experience. A graduate of UBC and Rice University (Houston, TX), he has music directed many shows and played many more, including Avenue Q and Rock of Ages (Arts Club), and Herringbone and Out of a Dream (PSP). Sean loves the collaborative aspect of working in the theatre and the experience of everyone’s abilities to come together to create something exciting.

Laura is excited to be making her return to the theatre in this year’s production of Anne of Green Gables – The Musical. After spending much of her youth performing with various musical theatre groups, her focus shifted to pursuing other plans for her career and family. This opportunity marks the fulfillment of a personal goal she set in 2020 to perform on stage again. Born and raised in Richmond herself, she is proud to be working and raising her own family in this community and thrilled to be returning once again to the Gateway Theatre stage. Passionate about performing, Vanessa is an actor, singer, and model who has been on stage all her life. Her highlights include being Amaryllis in The Music Man (Woodstock Playhouse, New York), Belle in Beauty and the Beast (CTORA), Lorna in The Full Light of Day (Electric Company Theatre), and a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz (Gateway Theatre). She has modelled at New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week and won silver in the singing category of American Protégé Music Competitions at Carnegie Hall. She would like to thank her family, friends, and teachers for supporting her.

Previous show highlights include playing Esther-Jane in A Christmas Story (Align Entertainment) and Goldilocks in Shrek – The Musical (Align Entertainment). When she’s not on stage or in front of the camera, Alina enjoys being with friends, travelling, and snowboarding. Vincent is a classically trained actor and vocalist with five years experience in the BC arts scene. He is a graduate of The Canadian College of Performing Arts. Vincent has entertained live audiences across the West Coast with the Victoria Symphony, Royal Canadian Naden Band, Royal Canadian Theatre Company, and Theater Under the Stars among others. Most recently he has been narrating audiobooks. Vincent believes stories are who we are. Stories transport us to places where we can glean meaning from our lives, allow us to experience what has been, cope with what is, and imagine what could be.

An award-winning choreographer, Nicol Spinola’s work has been seen on many stages including Chemainus Theatre Festival, Align Entertainment, Theatre Under the Stars, SaskExpress, Capilano University, and here at the Gateway Theatre. Nicol is the Co-Managing Artistic Director for Raincity Theatre, whose sold-out productions of Sweeney Todd and Company, won a total of five Jessie awards & three Ovation awards. Nicol is also the Founding Director of Camp Cue – an overnight musical theatre camp for teens. Look for her work this coming spring at the Arts Club Theatre Company. Jessica was born in Richmond BC, and is an artist who explores Set and Costume Design for theatre and UX/UI for the digital world. Recent design credits include Almost a Full Moon (Citadel), Benevolence (Ruby Slippers), To Perfection (Shameless Hussy), Derwent is Different (Green Thumb), Morag You’re a Long Time Deid (Touchstone/Frank Theatre), Bunny (Search Party), and Clean (Neworld). Jessica is a three-time Jessie Richardson Award winner for significant artistic achievement in design, with a total of seven nominations. She is a member of ADC 659 and a graduate of Studio 58 where she now teaches Set Design and Design Foundations.

Carol is a Vancouver based props buyer, builder, finder, hunter, gatherer & persuader who’s excited to be back for Gateway’s holiday show! Carol started her props life with the Gateway Academy and graduated to Crazy for You, Closer than Ever, King of The Yees, The Music Man, Yoga Play and Straight White Men. Carol also works for the Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, Zee Zee Theatre and other theatre companies around the Lower Mainland. Carol thanks Barbara Tomasic for bringing her ‘back home’ to Gateway Theatre. Carol is immensely grateful to have her family ‘back home’ for the holidays!

Donnie is a Jessie Award-winning costume designer as well as the sole proprietor of his costume shop and rental house, In The Wings Costume Co. Having built his career in musical theatre over the last six years, he found himself dressing in the last seven Stanley musicals with the Arts Club and has recently shifted his focus to costume design. Donnie is also a wig stylist working primarily in the drag scene under the title, OMGwigs, where his work has been featured on the runway of Canada’s Drag Race and all over the world.

Sophie is a lighting and set designer with 7 years of experience in the professional theatre world. She is a Jessie Award Winner and Nominee, as well as an Ovation Award Nominee. She has designed with companies including Stratford Festival, PuSh Festival, Electric Company Theatre, Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, Citadel Theatre, Theatre Replacement and so on. She also designed for Gateway Theatre’s A Broadway Holiday. Sophie thinks lighting is like painting on stage.

Darren is an all-purpose theatre technician with a passion for all things audio and has over a decade of experience working with most of the largest theatre organizations in British Columbia. Darren started his professional theatre journey as an apprentice stage hand for Western Canada theatre back in 2010 and has been swiftly climbing toward his goal of becoming a production technical director while still being able to tour the Fringe circuit for fun. This is his second sound design contract with Gateway, he previously designed A Broadway Holiday last Christmas season. Darren believes that theatre is a place for everyone to experience joy while living their truest lives and works his best towards making every space he works in as inclusive as possible.

Sylvie is very happy to be a part of this production, and thrilled to be teaming up again with Mike Kovac. Sylvie is a certified Advanced Actor Combatant with the Academy of Fight Directors Canada. Recently she has designed violence for Fight Girl Battle World (Thompson Rivers University), Vietgone (United Players), and Coriolanus (University of British Columbia). She also runs Cry Havoc Fight Choreography in Vancouver.

Now engaged primarily as a stage manager, Koh (she/her) has been working in the dance and theatre industry for over 20 years. Often found criss-crossing the country, her credits include productions with companies such as the Arts Club, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Touchstone Theatre, Savage Society, TUTS, Western Canada Theatre, Persephone Theatre, Thousand Islands Playhouse, and Drayton Entertainment. For Gateway, Koh’s credits include The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, Yoga Play, Glory, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree at Thompson Rivers University, Twitch went on to work at Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops, BC. She spent the past three years working at WCT as a Technician and an Associate Technical Director. Twitch has recently made the move to the Lower Mainland to pursue stage management! She is very grateful for all of the support she has received from family and friends! Mandy is an emerging stage manager and recent UBC graduate with a double major in Theatre Studies and Sociology. She is at the beginning of her apprenticeship journey with stage management. Recently, she was the Apprentice Stage Manager for Peter Pan Goes Wrong and Made in Italy (Arts Club). Her other stage management credits include La Mitchin di Mitchif (V’ni Dansi), Children’s Festival 2022, The Wait List Experiment (Some Assembly Theatre), and Cinderella (VTT Spring Musical).
