A Riveting Tale of Revenge and Redemption
Now in his early fifties, Deke has been in Millhaven Prison without a cellmate for the past twenty years. He is surprised and annoyed when Corey, a twentysomething rich kid, joins him in his cell. Deke is convicted for killing his sister Abigail’s rapist, and “newbie” Corey is in prison for sexual assault.
As a complicated bond slowly forms between the two unlikely cellmates, tensions rise as they debate the nature of their crimes, and the men must re-evaluate how they see each other after the true nature of their respective crimes is revealed. As Corey begs Deke for protection inside the prison, Deke is faced with a moral dilemma and is brought face-to-face with a decision he made twenty years ago.
Within the current moment of global accountability, including the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, Meghan Gardiner—beloved by Gateway audiences as a brilliant performer—shows she is an equally talented playwright in the world premiere of her provocative drama.
"As in her past works, Meghan Gardiner examines the dark side of human nature with humour, compassion, and grace." - Jovanni Sy, Artistic Director Gateway Theatre
