Playing Fields is a youth driven, outdoor, participatory sound performance about teenage longing. With voices from teenagers across the world (Hong Kong, Dublin, Whitehorse, Yukon, Richmond, BC) this event will bring people together to share a unique theatre experience. While listening in on individual headsets to teens speaking about their greatest fears and hopes, the performance is guided by a local Richmond teenager and involves moving on an outdoor field. We ask that audience members dress accordingly. If mobility is a concern, participants can sit on the benches and listen to the audio while watching the audience on the field for an optional and equally interesting experience. An unforgettable participatory storytelling experience for anyone ages 10+.

We request your registration ahead of time for this event so we can accommodate the number of people attending. Limited spots are available so register early!

About The Chop Theatre:

The Chop is a company that brings together artists to create new Canadian theatre. It was founded in 2006 in Vancouver, BC by Emelia Symington Fedy and Anita Rochon. The Chop is recognized for work that is sophisticatedly “simple” – that is, the artistic propositions are spare and clear so that complexities come from the depth of the investigation. Productions are characterized by an intentionally live and direct connection with the audience. Led by Emelia Symington Fedy, with 20 new works toured nationally and a strong international profile for our “carbon lite” programming, we’re excited to present Playing Fields in the city where the project began – Richmond.
