Time to Play for the Lost Time is a cross-generational presentation of music where the memories of first-generation immigrants reconnect with today’s youth. Within diasporic communities, one of the most important conversations for first and second-generation family members is how their varying life experiences actually create barriers in their relationship. Second-generation Taiwanese Canadian artist Van Lefan incorporates elements from popular singers beloved by their parents during their youth into their own arrangements. This fusion of old and new brings nostalgia and cultural storytelling to the forefront, encouraging conversations about the influence of music on culture throughout different eras.
