Executive Director Camilla Tibbs stepping down after eight years

Gateway Theatre will be seeking a new Executive Director

Gateway Theatre’s Executive Director, Camilla Tibbs, has announced her upcoming departure from the organization to pursue a new role with a Vancouver-based organization.

During her time Camilla Tibbs has overseen Gateway Theatre’s transformation in adopting a radical new vision in its programming and initiatives. This undertaking resulted in cultivating a variety of community-driven initiatives in addition to its traditional performances. With Director of Artistic Programs Barbara Tomasic, she has proudly led Gateway to become a creative hub for collaboration and community-building.

“Camilla joined Gateway Theatre in 2015 and has led us through great changes including the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Diane Purvey, Gateway Theatre Board Chair. “Through it all Camilla has been a champion of Gateway Theatre and its important role in the Richmond community. This is something we are incredibly grateful for and wish Camilla all the best in her future endeavours.”

Camilla’s last day with the organization will be May 9th. Gateway’s Board of Directors will launch a nationwide search for a new Executive Director, focusing on securing a candidate who will guide the company into a new future and continue its community representation in Richmond and the Greater Vancouver performing arts community.
