Fifteen Women. One Raucous Romp.
It’s 1960’s Montreal, and working-class housewife Germaine Lauzon has won one million customer loyalty stamps. She needs to place the stamps in booklets in order to redeem them, but who can she trust when she invites her jealous family members and neighbours to come over for a stamp-pasting party?
Within seconds, chaos ensues – the 15 women air old grievances aggressively, overshare shamelessly, and fantasize freely while secretly coveting Germaine’s precious stamps. Raucous, reckless, and hysterically funny, this windfall of humour, dreams, and heart, is sure to pay off!
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the Canadian classic Les Belles-soeurs. And Gateway is delighted to have Ruby Slippers Theatre back with the Metro Vancouver professional premiere of Michel Tremblay’s iconic play (English-language version).
"...Tremblay's most popular and widely translated play. Almost 50 years later, the text still feels incendiary and its subject matter ground-breaking" - The Georgia Straight
Audience considerations: Some profanity. Mature subject matter. Recommended age: 12+
